Fall is my favorite time of the year, period! With the summer heat finally letting go, we are enjoying some beautiful fall mornings. I look forward to more cool weather ahead.
As I write this, Megan and I are gearing up for the start of Bow Season on September 28. Wish us luck, we’ll need it! Check Facebook for some nice pictures of the old man showing the kid how it’s done.
October is a busy month around here. Our calendar is full of events.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness. Join us on October 19, as we hold our annual Pink Out at the Rodeo to support the Careity Breast Care Center. Please support this worthy cause. Russell Feed and Supply will be making a donation to Careity of $3 for every 35lb Bag of Exclusive Dog food sold in the month of October.
On October 5, there will be a benefit for longtime friend, Dan Davis. Dan has been ill and the long road to recovery has started. Please join Teresa and I and a whole lot of Dan’s friends for Bar B Que dinner, live music and auction with over 150 items available. There will be a special raffle for a weekend package to the National Rodeo Finals. Please join us as we help raise some money for Dan and his family.
Oct 19th is also the date for the Azle Alumni Association annual Beans and Corn Bread fund raiser for the Azle FFA. Watch our website and Facebook for details to be shared in the next few weeks.
The hay barn is not nearly as full as I would like for it to be. With the recent rains we are optimistic about getting another cutting of coastal. Just one more average cutting would fulfill our needs. The West Coast 3 string Alfalfa and Bermuda are not much of a problem right now, and we finally have a good inventory of Two String Alfalfa thanks to our grower in Lubbock!
I’m wondering if you are as sick of politics as I am. It almost feels like election year! Never have so many politicians spoken so loudly and gotten so little accomplished and made so much money doing so.
See you around the barn!
