March was full of events around the feed stores, and I hope you were able to stop by and enjoy at least one of them. Our Horse Owner’s  meeting, two chick meetings, and Canning Class had great turnouts, and we appreciate all our customers who came out and made the events so much fun. I would also like to send out a big thank you to our staff that came in early and stayed late to make sure all our meetings were a success.

As some of you may know, we’re currently in the process of relocating our Azle store. The new location will be about a mile past the existing location, across the highway from David Beard’s Catfish, and it will be a state-of-the-art facility and our biggest store yet. The preliminary plan has been approved by the Azle Planning and Zoning Committee, and we expect final TXDOT approval for our driveways any day now. I hope we’re moving dirt sometime in May.

We’ve got a bit of a mess going on outside our Benbrook store for what looks like the next 18 months. They’ve started widening US 377 South from a four lane highway to a six lane boulevard, and our parking lot has a front row ticket to all the action. We’re still open for business through the construction, and we really appreciate your patience.

We celebrate Easter this month on April 20, 2014.  All our stores will be closed Easter Sunday so our staff can celebrate with their family and friends.  From all of us at Russell Feed & Supply we wish you a Happy Easter.

FortWoofDogParkFort Woof Dog Park is celebrating their 10 Year Anniversary on April 19, 2014 from 10 am to 2 pm. Join Russell Feed and Supply, 92.1 Hank FM, and other vendors for a day of fun at Fort Worth’s first off-leash dog park. A portion of your investment goes right back to the dog park for new doggy amenities. You can learn more about the event HERE.

Turkey season started a week early this year, and I hope you get to spend some time out in the country and get you a big bird. Speaking of hunting, we’ve got some .223 ammo for sale at a pretty reasonable price if you need any. Be sure to call the stores for availability.

Hay Report:

Since the last time I wrote, we’ve had one decent rain and are falling way behind in the rain department, which doesn’t bode well for this year’s hay crop. Our 2 string coastal Bermuda is still coming out of Arkansas and Oklahoma, and supply doesn’t seem to be a problem right now. Our 3 string alfalfa and coastal Bermuda are exclusively coming out of Arizona, and the California weather and water shortage have really put pressure on pricing.

See you around the barn,
