graduationMay was a jam-packed month around these parts, with the Buffalo Boogie, Happy Tails Ice Cream Social, and a Water Bath Canning Class at our Haltom City location. Thank you to all who came out and made these events a success. On a personal note, our oldest daughter Rachel graduated last month with her Bachelor of Science in Government from Texas Woman’s University.

Also in May, my youngest daughter Megan and I attended the Crowley High School FFA Banquet. We had a great time, and it really reminded me of how important FFA is in the lives of so many youth. FFA changed my life when it introduced me to the feed business, and I really enjoyed hearing from the Crowley students what FFA has meant to them.

June is here, which means hot weather. Make sure all your pets and livestock are getting the water they need as these blistering Texas months approach us.

Father’s Day is June 15 this year. If you’ve got one of those dads who is tough to buy for, why not get him a Triple “C” Game Feeder or hook him up with some deer protein. Some of our locations also carry items such as pocket knives and barbecue cookers – you never know what you may come across in our stores.

Carl at the Haltom City location will be having a Pressure Canning Class June 22 at 1pm. RSVP by calling 817-831-8166 or stopping by the Haltom City store. There is a fee of $15 to help cover supplies, and participants will receive a $10 coupon for canning supplies. Click HERE to learn more about the class.

How ‘bout them Rangers? If you’re anything like me, you root on our home team no matter what their record is or who is on the disabled list. I’m excited to announce Russell Feed and Supply will be taking part for the first time ever in the Texas Rangers Bark at the Park event at The Ballpark in Arlington, as I still like to call it. This is the only game of the year you can bring man’s best friend into the park to help root on your Texas Rangers. The event takes place June 5th, and the on-field dog parade is scheduled for 6pm. Megan is scheduled to throw out the first pitch. She played fast pitch softball for 17 years, and I’m excited to see her out on the field. You can learn more about Bark at the Park HERE.

Speaking of playing ball, our company has been playing this spring in the Veteran’s Park Slow pitch Softball League on Wednesday nights. Our team is called Russell Feed and Speed, and we have a blast. We are currently 0-5, but we’ve been looking better and better each game. That Russell Feed employee who helped you find that product you were looking for or loaded up your feed for you could be our starting shortstop or our big home run hitter!

Also, just a heads up looking into July- we will be closed July 4th so our staff can enjoy the holiday with their families.

Hay Report:

At this time there is so much uncertainty in the market I dare not guess what will happen the next 90 days. A case can be made for a bumper crop or a disaster.

July report should yield better information.

Rain will solve a lot of unresolved issues!

See you around the barn,
