When one looks at all the ingredients that go into creating a successful business, a loyal customer base and great staff that believes in the company’s vision quickly come to mind. But often overlooked are the relationships a business has with its’ vendors. Over the years Russell Feed & Supply has had many vendor relationships. Large vendors like Purina Mills, Nestle Purina, Lone Star Pet Supply and Statewide Service Center; long time vendors and dear friends like Harvest Supply; and smaller vendors like our accountant or web marketing, Red Mango Marketing; and even our partners at the bank.
Most folks hate their bank, and I can understand why. Here at Russell Feeds Inc. we use 2 different banks. One is a large commercial bank I refer to as a “convenience bank”, it’s really all they are good for. The other bank is a smaller, local community bank, Star Bank of Texas.
I can say without a doubt we wouldn’t be where we are today without the support and trust of our friends at Star Bank of Texas. If you are not familiar with them take the time to check them out. They have locations in Lake Worth, White Settlement and opening soon in Burleson. If you are looking for a great bank I recommend you give them a try.
It would be impossible to list all our vendors but suffice to say we value them dearly and most have become some of my best friends.
California and Arizona are staring to produce some 3-string after a very slow start. It is too early to know much about their crop.
If somebody tells you they have local Coastal Bermuda in the field it is most likely Rye grass. We are still a few weeks away from having local hay available.
Demand for hay has come to a stand still due to the spring rains and green grass. We are working on additional information and will have an update next month after we review the yields. Stay tuned.
Keep the rains a’coming and see you around the barn.
